National News Segment Producing
State of The Race (CNN Max summer 2024) Writing Reel
Just wanted to share a glimpse into my work as an associate producer on CNN's 'State of the Race' on Max. I had the opportunity to write and produce segments during my time on the show, so I cut together a reel of some of my favorite segment intros.
CNN Tonight, august 11, 2023: 50th Anniversary of Hip-Hop
Hip-Hop trailblazer MC Lyte and Hip-Hop journalism pioneer and Former Editor-in-Chief Kierna Mayo came on the show to discuss the evolution and importance of Hip-Hop. I pitched and helped produce this segment. The idea came when I saw that Netflix released the new docuseries, “Ladies First: A Story of Women in Hip-Hop”. The 4-part series highlights the history and contributions of women in the genre.
I contributed question ideas and gathered visual elements.
CNN’S STATE OF THE RACE, JUNE 24, 2024: Immigration Reform Takes Center Stage
As the first presidential debate of the year approaches, immigration reform becomes a hot topic. President Biden and Donald Trump reveal new proposals, aiming to address the complex issue. Border officials report a significant 25% drop in arrests at ports of entry following the Biden administration's asylum restrictions. Meanwhile, Trump makes a surprising campaign promise that could change the game.
I wrote and produced the intro and questions for this segment.
CNN’S STATE OF THE RACE, June 10, 2024: FAR-RIGHT MOVEMENT IN EUROPEAN ELECTIONS
The European political landscape has shifted significantly as far-right parties made substantial gains in the recent European elections, topping polls in key countries like Germany and France. Despite centrist parties maintaining a majority of seats, the surge in far-right support has raised concerns about the future of European politics.
I wrote and produced the intro and questions for this segment.
CNN’S STATE OF THE RACE, June 11, 2024: Secret SCOTUS audio leaked
New controversy surrounds the Supreme Court after secret recordings of two senior justices were leaked to the public, revealing their controversial views on sensitive topics and sparking questions about their impartiality and the court's credibility.
I wrote and produced the intro and questions for this segment.
CNN’S STATE OF THE RACE, June 3, 2024: Trump joins TikTok
Former President Donald Trump has joined TikTok, a platform he previously tried to ban in 2020 due to national security concerns, in a move he hopes will expand his reach during his 2024 presidential campaign.
I produced the questions, graphics, and video for this segment.
Feature Interviews
As the post-producer for a few installations of the ‘Game Changers’ series, I spearheaded the visual narrative and delivery pipeline for interviews with global icons including Mel Robbins, Tina Knowles-Lawson, Naomi Watts, and Dylan Mulvaney.

Video Stories
Restorative Justice in Mid-Missouri: Offender Stories (2019)
Three men share how a program has changed their outlook on life and their experience in prison. They use Restorative Justice to give back to the community. We visited Jefferson City Correctional Center, a Level-5 maximum security prison in mid-Missouri, where we met 3 members of their Restorative Justice program. Reporting by me & Rachel Zalucki. Shot, produced, and edited by me for my Convergence Journalism class in Spring 2019. Hands down my favorite story I’ve ever worked on.
Local News Producing
KOMU 8: news Producer Reel
Producing the news is something that I truly enjoy doing. Whether I’m pushing a reporter to dive deeper into their story, or utilizing plan ‘C,’ after plans ‘A’ and ‘B’ have fallen through, I’m always thinking about how to make the best of what I have in front of me (while keeping track of time, of course!) During my time as a local news producer, I always made an effort to include a political block and a health block, especially since I began my producing journey during the 2020 presidential election campaign, and months before a global pandemic.
KOMU 8 NEWS FULL SHOW: 5PM ON SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 2020
This show was pretty significant since it was the first time the Chiefs had been to the Super Bowl in 50 years. Team coverage built up the top of the show and I really liked having a live headline from a reporter who was in Kansas City, MO. One thing I would have changed is putting short weather after the Super Bowl coverage in order to break up the coverage from the first local story about a murder.
KOMU 8 NEWS full show: 5pm on WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 22, 2020
The open for this show was cool because it had the headlines that I typically use for the 10pm show but we also added a sound bite and video from the I-70 hospital story. The SOT/VO was directly after the headline we had for it. This was the first show I produced as a TA for the producing class in my program.
KOMU 8 NEWS full show: 10pm on tuesday, december 3, 2019
The show went pretty well in my opinion. Headlines were smooth, and I liked the graphic I used for the breakout. We’d been following the story about a missing woman for over two months at this point.
